Welcome Noobs!

For The Noobs

The “Noob” isn’t an insult here. It’s a starting point.

If you are reading this, there is a high chance you are just like us: You have a camera that is capable of shooting a magazine cover (or a cinematic masterpiece), but right now, you’re mostly using it to take photos of your cat.

And that’s okay.

We are Yen (Canon R6 Mark II) and Bruzy (Sony A7IV).

We are two friends who spent a lot of money on professional-grade gear, only to realize that buying a “Pro” camera doesn’t automatically make you a “Pro” photographer. It just means you have higher-resolution mistakes.

So, we decided to do something about it.

The 100-Day Project

We are embarking on a 100-day journey to bridge the gap between our expensive equipment and our actual skills.

We aren’t interested in being perfect. We are interested in getting better.

Over the next few months, we are tackling a specific roadmap of 100 challenges. We’ve broken them down into 10 Phases, ranging from:

  • The Standard Base: The boring-but-necessary technical skills (understanding ISO, mastering back-button focus, reading histograms).

  • The Trendy: The fun, creative stuff you see on Instagram (direct flash, blurry shutter drags, moody edits).

Why “Noobs”?

Because “expert” advice can be intimidating. Sometimes you don’t need a lecture on the physics of light; you just need to know why your photo is blurry.

We are documenting this process publicly—the wins, the failures, and the embarrassing moments where we forgot to take the lens cap off.

What You Can Expect

For every challenge, we will be posting:

  1. The Vlog: A raw breakdown of how we approached the shot (and where we struggled).

  2. The Result: The final images, posted here and on Instagram.

  3. The “Cheat Code”: The specific settings and tips we learned the hard way, so you don’t have to.

Join Us

If you have a camera collecting dust, or if you’re just tired of shooting on Auto, grab your gear and follow along. We’ll provide the roadmap; you just have to provide the shutter clicks.

Welcome to the community, Noobs. Let’s justify the purchase.
